While The Lock Inn enjoys a thriving reputation, a few common criticisms emerge. Some visitors mention the indoor seating can feel a bit limited, especially during peak hours when the pub reaches full capacity. This can lead to a bit of a wait during busy periods, particularly on Saturdays around noon when it fills to 100%.
Parking, while generally ample, has seen some confusion among first-time visitors regarding registration requirements. It's essential to remember to register your vehicle to avoid any fines. Another point of contention is the need for reservations for popular menu items like steaks on special nights, which can lead to disappointment if you wish to enjoy them spontaneously.
Lovely pub, we didn’t eat but had some very good beer (especially the Hobson’s Mild). Ideal location next to the canal, large car park - very important make sure you use the registration machine in the pub. Dog friendly in bar area.
A very cute pub I happen to pop into while passing through to Dudley from Bewdley. The service was really nice and accomodating, the bartender made me a lemon and lime drink as lemon, lime and bitters wasn’t something they could do (must be an Aussie drink 😂) There was plenty of seating outside but minimal inside.
Spot on! Tried the tearoom in my journey to Holyhead. Lovely friendly staff and excellent food. Great value too. I nearly missed the requirement to register my car licence but rectified that in time!!
Decided to try here as I drive past it twice a day to get to work and back, after spending ages deciding where to eat. I saw on the website, that they sold steaks, so this swung me to go, but I was gutted when I got there that the steaks seem to be a Tuesday night special that you have to pre-book; I instead opted for the fish and chips, my usual go to if steaks aren’t served. The fish was huge, the chips although chunky, were cut in a way I’ve never seen before, which seemed to make them more tasty. The fish was delicious! I’m not a fan of batter, but managed half of it with batter which is good for me. Nice little quaint pub, with a good beer garden that overlooks the lock on the canal, and is very interesting to watch when a barge uses the lock, which we got to watch just as we were arriving. After finishing our food, we stayed for another drink, and we could hear the kitchen staff singing along to Zach Bryan; Something in the orange, brilliant song, Sang very well by one of the kitchen staff, just topped it for us. The guy behind the bar, was very friendly and helpful, along with the girl that served our food. Thank you, will visit more frequently!
